Natural Gas and LNG New Developments in the Southeastern European Market
The SE European Energy Forum in collaboration with the International Hellenic University organized the conference on NG and LNG New Developments in the Southeastern Europe. During the conference the representation of the iPIM project had the opportunity to participate in the discussionsbetween representatives from state, local government, institutions, academics, executives in the field of Energy and students focusing on infrastructure and development projects related to liberalization of the Greek Gas market .
As a result of the conference discussions, useful conclusions were made in light of the expected inauguration of the Greek segment of the TAP pipeline in the year 2016. The head of Trans Adriatic Gas Pipeline in Greece, Mr Rickard Scoufias, argued that this will strengthen the importance of the role of Greece in the physical gas market, contributing to the national economy, by stimulating local economy and creating new jobs.
At the same time, the importance of the expected parallel projects were mentioned such as the commencement of work on the interconnector IGB pipeline, the upgrading of the facility liquefied natural gas (LNG) at Revithoussa station in the area of Alexandroupolis.
The Greek-American Senator of Rhode Island State Mr. Leonidas Raptakis greeted the auditorium
and pointed out that the development of a «Fast- Track TAP» will bring significant growth prospects in the region, and developed the opportunity created for transporting cheap shale gas and the examples applicable to US regarding infrastructure and investment.
